Microsoft announced that it appointed Hong Xiaowen as its senior
vice president. He was the chairman of Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D group and
the dean of Microsoft Research Asia reported on October 27.
Hong has been working in Microsoft for 20 years. He is the chief
scientist of Microsoft as well as the expert for voice recognition. He joined
Microsoft in 1995 as a senior researcher in its US headquarter institute. He
worked as the vice dean of Microsoft Research Asia in 2004 and was promoted as
its dean in 2007.
Mr Hong also worked as the chairman of Asian R& D group of
Microsoft in 2014. In the meanwhile, he started and led STC from 2005 to 2007.
The STC concerns the launch of Bing in China.
During his 8 years hard work as the dean of
Microsoft Research Asia, he led his team to provide technical support for
Bing, Office, Azure, PowerBI, Windows and Xbox.
