Oracle announces to acquire Palerra

Oracle held a VIP client meeting in San Francisco this week and announced to acquire Palerra. Palerra is an cloud security startup which established by Rohit Gupta( Oracle CEO )and Ganesh Kirti(Oracle CTO).



Palerra was established in 2013 and named as Apprity before. It raised $ 25 million venture investment from Norwest Venture Partners and August Capital.

It specializes in offering automatically security data, including all mobile data in the various services and multiple protections of cross-infrastructures and software services.

VMware, Pinteny Bowes, Jefferies are clients of Palerra. Palerra also established business relationships with Microsoft.

Gupta stated in a blog that the Palerra will do its best to service the current clients and offer better services after the acquisition in the near future. They will integrate Oracle and Palerra to improve its cloud computing security.

Peter Barker, who works as Oracle Security and ID vice president, claimed the combination of Oracle authentication and Palerra CASB platform will offer protection for enterprises to apply cloud computing and SaaS program.

Until now, Oracle has acquired over one hundred companies but it is rare in security field, including acquisition of Oblix in 2005 and acquisition of
Bitzer Mobile in 2013.
